Maospahit Temple

Pura Maospahit, Denpasar, Bali, Indonesia

Description:

Maospahit Temple is the oldest temple in Denpasar, Bali. It traces its history from the time of the Majapahit Empire, between the XIII and XV centuries. The style of architecture of the temple reflects the development of this art form at that time. The name comes from one of the Balinese deities.

Although the temple is not open to the public, it can be admired from the outside to appreciate the wonderful architecture. It should be noted that at the moment there are some deviations from the original. The gates, for example, are not the same as they were before, they have been changed over time. The earthquake in the early twentieth century also had negative consequences. In fact, only a part of the temple can be seen, which has remained unchanged for six hundred years.
