Oolong Danu Temple

Jalan Pancasari - Baturiti, Baturiti 82191, Indonesia

Description:

On the shore of Lake Bratan, in the northern part of the island of Bali, for several centuries there is a temple called Oolong Danu. The temple was built to honor the power of the lake water, which is said to be sacred and nourishes not only people but also plants and animals.

The temple of Oolong Danu is a whole ensemble of religious buildings dedicated to the goddess Devi Dan. The appearance of the temple is extremely effective. Some of the buildings were built on small islands, and it seems that multi-tiered pagodas grew directly from the quiet water of the lake. Buildings are reflected on the water surface as in a mirror. And all this surrounded by blue majestic mountains and lush greenery of the rainforest is a place unique in beauty and harmony. Especially attractive local landscapes for those who are fond of photography.

On the territory of the temple complex is very cozy, elegant and well-kept. To get to the temple, you need to walk along a special wooden bridge. Bali residents and pilgrims actively visit the temple of Oolong Danu. They perform religious rites and ceremonies here, addressing the goddess Devi Dan. Above the lake you can often see clubs of incense, which are burned by believers to earn the favor of the goddess - on her depends the fertility of the land and the welfare of the locals.
