Taman Ayun Temple Complex

Jalan Ayodya, Mengwi 80351, Bali, Indonesia

Description:

Taman Ayun Temple Complex is the largest Hindu temple located on the island of Bali, Indonesia, near the village of Mengvi. The temple is considered the most beautiful and interesting place on the island.

Taman Ayun (which means "beautiful garden") was built in 1634, and for a long time was the largest religious building of the Kingdom of Mengvi, which used to exist in modern Indonesia.

The temple is unusually beautiful - it is located in a very picturesque place, in the center of a well-kept park, among old trees, lakes and canals. Before the entrance to the temple, a large fountain was built, in which the jets of water are oriented to the cardinal points.

The unusual architecture of Taman Ayun is also eye-catching - the temple complex consists of many tall pagodas surrounding the inner courtyard-sanctuary. Pagodas symbolize Mount Mahamera, an axis of peace sacred to Hindus.

Unfortunately, the inner courtyard of the temple can only be visited during important religious ceremonies, which are not more than a few times a year, but even outside Taman Ayun makes a strong impression. This is one of the most beautiful places in Indonesia, attracting many tourists from all over the country.
