Lake Bratana
Lake Bratan, Bali Island, Indonesia.
Description:
Sacred Lake Bratan is located in the crater of an extinct volcano, at an altitude of 1200 meters above sea level. An ancient legend says that the lake will give beauty, youth and health to anyone who plunges into its holy waters.
Lake Bratan is also a source of clean water used by local farmers for cooking and farming. The local nature here is virginally pure, as on the first day of creation. The exception is a modern water amusement park - a favorite place for tourists.
On the shore of the lake stands the temple of Oolong Danu, built in honor of the goddess of fertility. Consisting of several structures, some of which are located on the lake islets, the temple produces a stunning, incredible spectacle - its multi-tiered roofs seem to grow from the depths of a sacred spring.
It is always very clean and elegant, because the locals often perform religious ceremonies dedicated to the goddess of fertility Devi Dan. Often over the surface of the lake you can see clubs of incense.
