Jakarta Planetarium

Jalan Cikini Raya 73, Taman Ismail Marzuki Complex, Iacarta 10330, Indonesia

Description:

The Jakarta State Planetarium and Observatory were officially opened in 1969 as an exhibition center in meteorology, physics, space science and astronomy. Jakarta is the oldest of Indonesia’s three planetariums. In 1996, the construction was overhauled and obsolete optical devices were replaced.

The planetarium is engaged in serious scientific work and holds interesting meetings with famous astronomers. Here you can see a beautiful picture of the sky at any time of the day, regardless of the weather. For visitors in the planetarium there are fascinating virtual walks around the Universe. A special screen is made in the form of a semicircle, which allows visitors to feel like a spaceship exploring the universe.

Exciting lectures are held here using models of space objects against the background of the starry sky. The studio is designed for 320 seats and is equipped with a modern sound system.

The planetarium is a landmark of Jakarta and is very popular among visitors.
