About the company:
A significant attraction of Jakarta is the Vayang Museum, dedicated to the Javanese doll Wayang. It was opened in 1975 in a renovated old church built during Dutch colonization.
Originally, Wayang dolls were used in Hindu culture as an ancestor worship tool. In the fifth century they came to Indonesia, changed and became part of the cultural heritage of the country. In the exhibition halls of the museum there are huge collections of various types of Wayang.
There are also sets of gamelan musical instrument, sculptures and paintings depicting dolls, as well as Wayang from other countries of Southeast Asia. The museum has an interesting collection of wooden dolls and rare masks collected from all over the Indonesian archipelago.
The puppet theater is very popular among visitors, in which dancers perform using puppets made of leather and wood. There is a workshop for the manufacture of dolls of different types and sizes, which is of great interest to tourists. The museum constantly hosts various exhibitions and presentations representing masterpieces of puppetry.
