Jl. Aipda K.S Tubun No. 2 – 4 Jakarta Pusat, Indonesia

About the company:

One of the attractions of Indonesia is the Textile Museum in Jakarta. It is located in a luxurious building built in neoclassical style with Baroque elements. The building was built in the early XIX century as a private house of a French businessman. Over the years, the building has changed several owners. In 1978, it was handed over to the city government, resulting in the opening of the Madame Tian Suharto Textile Museum.

The museum contains unique collections of many types of products of traditional Indonesian weaving, such as Javanese batik, ikat and many others. Tools and equipment for textile production are exhibited here. Three spacious halls occupy an exhibition of several thousand traditional fabrics with national motifs and decorations from different islands of Indonesia. On the territory of the museum there is a park in which plants were grown for natural coloring of fabrics.

The Jakarta Textile Museum is an educational institution whose mission is to preserve the culture of traditional Indonesian textiles. Various training programs, seminars and discussions for the public are held here.
