National Archival Museum of Indonesia
Jl Gajah Mada Jakarta Barat 11140, Indonesia
About the company:
The National Archive Museum of Indonesia is an ancient complex consisting of five buildings. It was built at the end of the XVIII century and was the home of a prominent Dutch businessman. The main building is a majestic two-storey structure with high roofs. The original windows and doors are skillfully carved.
Between 1892 and 1949, it housed the world’s largest collection of archival documents from the time of Dutch colonization. Due to the decay of the complex, the archive was moved to a new building. Extensive reconstruction and modernization of the building ended in 1987, after which the National Archival Museum of the Non-Departmental Institute of the Government of Indonesia was opened here, which contains an interesting collection of artifacts, documents, clothing and household items, allowing visitors to get an idea of the lives of Indonesians and wealthy Dutch colonists.
The museum hosts cultural events and various exhibitions that contribute to the preservation and development of the historical heritage of the country. This complex is a unique attraction that attracts the attention of tourists.
