Abdoun Bridge
Description:
The Abdoun Bridge is one of the most striking architectural sights of the Jordanian city of Amman. It is the only cable-stayed bridge in the country. Its construction began on December 14, 2002, and the grand opening took place exactly two years later. The construction is part of the Amman ring road project connecting the northern part of the city with Zahran Street.
The design of the Abdoun Bridge deserves special attention. It is supported by three massive towers, made in the form of players. The structure consists of two equal sections, each of which is 134 meters long. The bridge is S-shaped. The chief architect of the design, Dar Al-Handasah, received praise from the city government in 2007 for the original design.
Currently, the Abdoun Bridge is the hallmark of Amman and impresses many visitors and residents of the city on a daily basis.
