Azadi Monument
Description:
The Azadi Monument is an architectural symbol of Tehran, built in 1971 to mark the 2500th anniversary of the Persian Empire.
Originally, the tower was called the “towers of memory of kings”. The unofficial name of the tower is “Gateway to Tehran”, as it welcomes guests of the city who arrived in Tehran through Mehrabad airport.
Marble monument with a height of 45 meters with 8.000 stone blocks was built on the money of Iranian industrialists. This sculpture was designed by Hossein Amanat. Near the monument is the Azadi Museum.
At night, the tower is illuminated and accompanied by musical compositions. The culmination of this show is the color of the national flag of the country on the tower.
