Martello Tower is the most famous of the 28 towers built during the Napoleonic Wars.
It currently houses the museum of the famous writer James Joyce.
The tower is located on the beach, near Strand Road.
The tower building was chosen for the museum for a reason - here the famous Irish writer lived for 6 days with his friend - the poet Oliver Gogarty, who lived in the tower in the postwar period.
In the museum you will learn a lot about the life and work of the great writer. Among the exhibits of the museum are personal belongings of Joyce, photographs, letters and rare editions of his works.
