Garden of memories
1 Parnell Square E, Dublin 1, Co. Dublin, Ireland
Description:
The Garden of Memories is one of Dublin’s most famous and most visited gardens, named for its monument to all the fallen freedom fighters of Ireland. The garden is located in the heart of Dublin, near Granby Row Street.
The garden was opened in 1966 by the former commander of the Easter uprising - Eamon de Valera in honor of the fiftieth anniversary of this great event.
The monument, located in this well-groomed flowering green garden, is a symbol of the memory of those who died in numerous uprisings between the 18th and 20th centuries, including the uprising of Robert Emmett, the Easter uprising of the civilian army and others.
The statue of the Children of Lear, erected in 1971, is a symbol of rebirth and resurrection.
