Monument-Fountain of Anna Livia Plurabel

8 N Circular Rd, Dublin, Co. Dublin, Ireland

Description:

Monument to Anna Livia Plurabel is one of the few monuments-fountains erected in honor of a fictional character, namely, the heroine from the novel Finnegan Wake, written by James Joyce. The fountain is located in a park near the Irish Museum of Modern Art.

The monument is not in vain made in the form of a fountain: the heroine of the novel is the personification of Liffia - the main river of the city.

It was installed in 1988, the city's Millennium Day on O'Connell Street, but in 2011 the fountain was moved to Memorial Park.

The statue of Anna, created by sculptor Emon O’Doherty, is a thin girl with long hair, depicted in a recumbent pose.
