City-fortress Carcassonne, oyster farms, town of Kollur

Description:

A traveler approaching the French castle of Carcassonne may suggest he is entering the world of fairy tales. The fortified medieval town rises majestically on a hill overlooking the lush countryside of Languedoc and the distant mountains of the Pyrenees. The history of Carcassonne Castle dates back at least to Roman Gaul, some of the city's fortifications date back to the 1st century AD. Located at the strategic intersection of two historic trade routes - from the Atlantic Ocean to the Mediterranean Sea and from Spain to the center of France - Carcassonne has been consistently fortified by each of its owners. In the 5th century AD, the castle repulsed a Visigoth attack and for many years thereafter remained impenetrable to invaders.

As a rule, on the way back from Carcassonne Castle, tourists visit one of the oyster farms that dot the entire coast of the Languedoc-Roussillon region. Tourists are invited to tasting oysters right on the farm, where the hospitable host will offer cold white wine, and tell how to eat them and what dishes are prepared from this clam in French national cuisine.

Well, at the end of the trip we will visit the wonderful French town of Colliur, located on the sea. Coliur will charm you with beauty and coziness, French charm, accordion music and exquisite cuisine.
