The city of Lloret de Mar has a thousand-year history. Many centuries ago there was a small and modest fishing village. As the years passed, power changed. The city was ruled first by the Iberians, then by the Romans, who organized trade with neighboring settlements.
The first mention of the town in world history refers to 966 AD, its name sounds like Loredo. There is a version according to which the name comes from Lauretum (Latin) - "the place where laurel trees grow." The city coat of arms is decorated with the image of the laurel.
