Montserrat Monastery

Description:

You will have a trip to the Benedictine Monastery of Montserrat, 50 km from Barcelona, located at an altitude of 720 meters from sea level in the heart of the mountains of the same name. The history of the monastery begins with a skete dedicated to St. Mary, which in 888 Count Vifredo Velosso gave possession to the Ripoli Monastery. This holy place with centuries-old history and amazing nature attracts pilgrims from all over the world. In the depths of the monastery there is an ancient relic - a statue of the patroness of Catalonia - the Black Madonna (la moreneta). They say that if you make a wish and whisper it to Madonna, it will come true. The monastery is a combination of several architectural styles from late Gothic to Baroque. And in the early XX century, modernist architects Josep Puig and Cadafalk and even Antonio Gaudí took part in the restoration of the monastery. Montserrat is also a natural heritage. In 1987, it was awarded the status of a natural park for its unusual geological structure, rich Mediterranean flora and fauna. In addition, there is a brand "Gastronomia de Montserrat", known for the production of cheeses, wines, honey and sweets from figs, almonds, walnuts.

We will also visit an amazing place where there is a monastery carved into the mountain. Beautiful panoramic views, waterfalls and caves - that is what Michel del Fay is.

Between these monasteries we will dine in a beautiful rustic restaurant with typical Catalan cuisine and wonderful wine.
