Canelobre Cave and a walk in the mountains

Description:

The Cave of Canelobre is perhaps the most visited in Spain. This is one of the few vertical caves in Spain, the depth of which reaches 70 meters. The cave is located near Alicante, near the town of Busot.

The authorities of the city spend considerable funds and efforts to maintain the cave in good condition. In the cave beautiful lighting and equipped platforms

The cave has excellent lighting and equipped platforms for easy movement.

Water and stone for 100,000 years created bizarre forms of stalactites and stalagmites, in the light of fantastic illumination resembling either the trunk of an elephant or a candelabra.

You can visit the cave only accompanied by a guide, the duration of the walk is 40 minutes. At the end of the tour, there is time to take pictures.

During the Civil War (1936-1939), it was decided to place a workshop for the repair of military aircraft engines, a tunnel was cut to access the cave.

The caves were opened to the public in the late 20th century.

The cave is formed in a mountain called Cabeco d’Or, which means Golden Mountain. Since the time of the Arabs, gold and treasure have been sought in the depths of this mountain, there are many legends and “evidences” that yes, indeed!

After exploring the cave, we will walk along the path that rises to the top of the mountain and admire the surrounding landscapes. Gradually, the path becomes narrower and climbs higher and higher ... the climb becomes more difficult, which is understandable ... because there are hidden the main treasures. We will not climb the peaks, but return on a convenient path back. The walk will take about 1.5 hours in a measured rhythm with stops.

Then we go up to the nearby town of Busot and visit the Museum of Ethnic Instruments. The museum contains a small but very interesting collection of ethnic instruments from around the world. Here you can listen to the sound of the instruments you especially like.

Between visiting the caves and the Museum of Ethnic Instruments, we will relax in a cafe located in a place that offers beautiful views of the coast, Alicante and mountain ranges.
