Walking tour of Alicante

Description:

Walking sightseeing tour in the center of Alicante

During the walk we will see all the main attractions of Alicante, get acquainted with the history and legends of the city and climb to the castle of Santa Barbara, towering above the bay at an altitude of 166 meters. It offers stunning views of the city, port and surrounding mountains.

From the castle we go down to the oldest and most colorful quarter of the city - Barrio Santa Cruz. Residents of the district are very fond of their area, here each house is lovingly decorated with flowers, and some streets and squares are even dedicated to poems. Walking through the narrow winding streets of the area gives the feeling that you are in the past, because there are no cars.

From here we will go down to the city center and see the oldest church of the city - Santa Maria, see the Cathedral of St. Nicholas and go to the building of the City Hall (the City Hall is open until 13.00).

Then we will walk along the famous boulevard of the city - Esplanade. Paved with tricolor marble tiles in the form of waves, a wide alley planted with palm trees and numerous flowers, the Esplanade is a favorite place for walks as locals. And tourists.

The esplanade welcomes us to one of the very first parks in Alicante - Canalejas Park, in which centuries-old ficuses grow. This is a great shelter from the sun.

On the way back, we will visit several more romantic corners of the center, where you can take refuge from the heat, resting on the terrace in the shade of your brothers-in-law with a glass of wine or ice cream.

Alicante is famous for its holiday Ogeras San Juan, which is celebrated on a large scale during the summer solstice - festivities, fireworks, songs and dances during the week. We will learn about the holiday itself and its history by visiting the museum dedicated to this holiday.

During the walk, there is a stop of 30 minutes - relax in the cafe.

The tour is conducted daily. The beginning of the tour - by agreement.
