Santa Pola Castle

Santa Pola, Alicante, Spain

Description:

Santa Pola Castle is located on the seaside, near a small port, and is a good example of the architecture of the XVI century.

The structure creates a closed fort, on the territory of which there is an empty area, resembling a square with beveled corners in shape. In the center of the site, a mosaic is laid out the coat of arms of Glorieta, a city in the province of Alicante. At each corner of the stone walls there are guard towers, and on the western facade of the castle there is a central tower, on which a clock and a small bell are installed.

There are no architectural excesses in the building: every tower is used here. Inside Santa Pola is a richly decorated room - the chapel of Our Lady Loreto. The situation in the building is traditional for Catholic chapels - a carved gilded niche and wooden shops in two rows.

Santa Pola has two museums, one dedicated to the sea and the other to fishing.
