Cadiz: The City of the Atlantic, Wind and Ancient Naval Histories

Cadiz is one of the oldest cities in Europe and perhaps the most unusual in Andalusia. Here everything is subject to the Atlantic: light, wind, the smell of salt and the feeling that the city lives in several times. Cadiz is not trying to impress – he just remains himself, and this is what conquers.

Our walk begins in the old center - where the city breathes history. We will walk through the squares, surrounded by palaces and snow-white facades, see the city hall, old houses with forged balconies and feel the special rhythm of Cadiz - unhurried, ironic and very lively. This city has seen Phoenicians, Romans, Arabs and Spanish navigators, and each of them has left its mark here.

Next, we delve into the maze of streets of old Cadiz. Behind each turn is a new story: conspiracies of wars and revolutions, ships that went to sea, courtyards where flamenco still sounds, and urban life not turned into a museum.

Then we will visit the Cathedral of Cadiz - majestic and bright, as if created to be a landmark for sailors. The city’s connection with the sea, faith and hope is particularly felt here.

Climb the Torre Tavira, the former eyes of Cadiz. From this tower for centuries looked for ships returning from the New World. From here one of the best views of the city opens: the roofs of the old center, the golden dome of the cathedral and the endless Atlantic.

To experience Cadiz for real, we will stop at the old Tabanco, traditional bars where life is discussed over a glass of sherry, just as it was done a hundred years ago. Here you can taste local dishes and hear the lively voice of the city.

The final walk will be La Caleta – a small beach between two fortresses. It is a place of sunsets, guitar rhythms and the feeling of being on the edge of Europe, where the city meets the ocean.
