Oviedo City

Oviedo. Woody Allen's Favorite Town

Description:

Oviedo is the capital of the Christian Reconquista, the center of autonomy, beloved city of Woody Allen. Here are unique Visigothic buildings of the VIII-IX centuries of the pre-Romanesque style, taken under the protection of UNESCO.

During the tour I will introduce you to modern Oviedo and the historical part of the city. We will walk through clean and well-groomed streets, followed by pilgrims making the “Way to Santiago”. You will see beautiful examples of architecture of different eras and styles:

  • The pride of the inhabitants of Oviedo - the Cathedral of San Salvador;
  • Monastery of St. Vincent, where you can visit the Archaeological Museum of Asturias;
  • unique shrines - the churches of St. Isidore and St. Tirso;
  • One of the oldest educational institutions in Spain – University of Oviedo;
  • the most beautiful palaces of Camposagrado and Valdecarzana-Heredia;
  • Theatre Campoamor is an example of the neoclassical style, which annually hosts the international ceremony of awarding the Princes of Asturias.

Wherever you go, you will be accompanied by Oviedo sculptures. There are more than a hundred of them in different parts of the city. These are silent witnesses to the history of Oviedo, who create a fertile atmosphere of the capital of Asturias.

We will make a stop at the local market, where residents of nearby villages bring their goods - cheeses, sausages, fresh fish and seafood.

We will also visit places where locals gather to chat and at the same time drink cool foaming cider. I will tell you about the main Asturian dishes and you will learn how to drink cider properly.

The beautiful conclusion of our tour will be a visit to the St. Francis Park - one of the most picturesque places in Oviedo.

You will remember this wonderful city in the north of Spain.
