Three bridges, Puente Romano, Puente Viejo and Puente Nuevo, cover the canyon. Puente Nuevo is the highest of the bridges, 120 meters high above the bottom of the canyon. All three bridges are the most important attractions of the city. Many prominent personalities, such as Ernest Hemingway and Orson Welles, spent many years in Ronda, an old city block called La Ciudad.
