Seville: the capital of Andalusia, where history never fades into the past
Description:
Seville is a city that cannot be forgotten. Here, history is not hidden behind the glass of museums: it lives in streets, palaces, shady courtyards and the rhythm of everyday life. Seville was the capital of powerful dynasties, the gateway to the New World and the center of an empire, and it is felt at every turn.
The tour begins in the heart of the city - at the Cathedral of Seville, the largest Gothic temple in the world. We will see grandiose altars, stained glass windows and relics, talk about the time when Seville became one of the richest cities in Europe, and about the symbols of power and faith that are concentrated here. In the cathedral are the relics of Christopher Columbus – another reminder of the role of Seville in the history of great geographical discoveries. Climb the Giralda bell tower, offering panoramic views of the city and its old quarters.
Next, we will walk through the narrow streets around the cathedral and the Santa Cruz district, the former Jewish quarter. Snow-white houses, wrought-iron balconies, orange trees and hidden courtyards create the very atmosphere of Seville, which cannot be conveyed by photographs.
After the intense first part, we will pause for lunch in one of the traditional tapas restaurants. This is an opportunity not only to relax, but also to get acquainted with Andalusian cuisine: local snacks, jamon, fish and seafood are part of the culture, not just food.
The afternoon is dedicated to the Royal Seville. We will visit the Royal Alcázar, a palace that for centuries served as the residence of Spanish monarchs and is still used by the royal family. It is a unique ensemble where Moorish architecture is intertwined with Christian architecture, and gardens and palaces create a sense of oriental fairy tale in the heart of Europe.
Then we head to Parc Marie-Louise, the green oasis of the city, and see one of the most impressive squares in Spain – Plaza de España. The scale, ceramics, canals and pavilions make this place a real visiting card of Seville.
If desired, the route can be complemented by a modern Metropol Parasol observation deck or a walk along the Guadalquivir River to see the city from the other side.
The tour takes place in an individual format, the route and pace are adapted to the interests of the guests.
