El Greco House Museum

In the Jewish Quarter of Toledo

About the company:

The House-Museum of El Greco is one of the largest collections of El Greco in the world, occupying a palace of the XVI century, once owned by the Jewish philanthropist Samuel HaLevy.

In the last century, all the castles were bought and completely restored by the venerable Marquis de la Vega Inclán. The museum dedicated to the life and work of El Greco was opened in 1911. Within the walls of the museum there are personal belongings of the artist, furniture, furnishings and decorations of the turn of the XVI-XVII centuries, two dozen paintings of the master belonging to the period of 1600-1614. Some of the most famous works of the artist are “The Lamentation of St. Peter”, “View and Plan of Toledo”, portraits of the Kovarrubias brothers, a series of images of the twelve Apostles.

On the first floor of the building there is an altar image of St. Bernardine, as well as works by Spanish contemporaries, including Luis Tristan and Murillo.
