Mother's Day

Description:

La festa della Mamma
On this day, all children of Italy bring their mothers flowers, sweets, small gifts to express their love and gratitude.

This holiday has a huge history. Even the ancient Greeks and Romans during this period of the year honored the Goddess of Fertility. And indeed, when, if not at the beginning of May, nature explodes with flowers, fragrances, joy that spreads with the first warm spring breeze?

Despite all the joy and warmth of this truly family holiday, one cannot help but wonder what significance it has. Why on this day all mothers get bouquets, candy and cute trinkets? Because they gave up their careers and decided to raise children? For being discriminated against at work just for the hypothetical possibility of maternity leave? Because they're mothers, so every day they have a normal life of work, running around the city, including work, school, gym, doctors, supermarkets, and then homework? In general, there is a share of tar in each barrel, because Italian women also have a hard time, their path is even more thorny than the roses they receive on their holiday.

Mothers, brave women who know when to shut up and when to support and give the necessary advice, who love their children simply for what they are, whatever they may be. On this day they are rightly Queens and all the flowers, all the gifts, all the sweets of the world, all the kind words - all at their feet!
