Liberation Day from Fascism in Italy

Description:

Liberation Day from Fascism
The Day of Liberation from Fascism and German Occupation is the national holiday of Italy.

On April 25, 1943, fascist dictator Benito Mussolini fled Milan, and a new era began in the country's history - the movement of armed resistance and the struggle for democracy. In 1945, a general strike and armed uprising began in German-occupied northern Italy. In bloody battles, guerrillas and rebels liberated hundreds of cities in northern and central Italy before the arrival of Allied troops.

In Rome, Villa Torlonia, which for 18 years served as the residence of Benito Mussolini, is planned to house the Italian Holocaust Museum. The creation of the memorial will be contributed by the Holocaust Remembrance Foundation led by director Steven Spielberg.
