As in all traditionally Catholic countries, the Ascension (l’Ascensione) is a big holiday in Italy.

Traditionally celebrated on the 39th day after Easter, on Thursday, but since 1977 in Italy celebrated on the 42nd day after Easter (otherwise – the 6th Sunday after Easter).
