Italy, Veneto region, Belluno province

Description:

Mount Civetta is a beautiful peak of the Dolomites in northern Italy. The name of the mountain is translated from Italian as “owl”. The origin of the name is unknown, however, in the resorts of Chivetta you will be offered a lot of souvenir products depicting this bird.

The height of the mountain is three thousand two hundred and eighteen meters above sea level. The northwestern slope of the mountain is cut off by a magnificent sheer wall resembling the bastions of a giant castle and has become one of the symbols of the Dolomites. The height of the wall is one thousand two hundred meters, and the length is more than three kilometers.

On the slopes of Chivetta there is a ski resort of the same name, offering visitors more than fifty trails with a total length of about eighty kilometers. Four tracks are really difficult, the rest are of medium and easy difficulty. On the tracks there are many lifts of all possible types. The resort operates from early December to early March, but in the summer months the mountain attracts many tourists who want to climb its slopes.
