My parents often ask me, What do I do with my children in Florence? Is there a circus, a zoo, a children’s theater?

I replied: There is nothing like that in Florence. There is great art!

Architecture, painting, sculpture, poetry, music... Even crafts acquire an exquisite aroma here. In the literal sense: you go to the tannery master - inhale the tart smell of the skin; in the old pharmacy - the delicate aroma of elixirs, tinctures, liqueurs and perfumes of the Medici.

In a simple stationery store, you find yourself in a fabulous land of hand-painted paper, and you feel another smell - either paint or secrets, subject only to an inquisitive mind and the desire to create beauty with your own hands.

You can try to paint the paper yourself with marble or peacock-like feather patterns.

There is no need for theaters or circuses – only imagination and a desire to get in touch with the beautiful, whether it is a work of high art, a leather purse without seams or a book bound in Florentine paper.
