Strozzi Palace

Piazza degli Strozzi, 50123 Firenze, Italia

Description:

Palazzo Strozzi is a typical Florentine palace of the early Renaissance. The author of the structure, erected in the 15-16 centuries, was supposedly Giuliano da Sangallo, the customer - Filippo Strozzi, who died before the completion of construction work.

The model for the construction was the Medici Palace, now the Palazzo Medici-Riccardi by Michelozzo. However, the Palazzo Strozzi is distinguished by great grace of form. The cladding of the building is made of convex stone blocks, which gives the architecture harmony and completeness. The lower part of the building is decorated with a wide portal with a rust-finished arch. The upper part has 2 horizontal jagged belts, made in the antique style. Another significant detail of the appearance of the palace is the protruding cornice of Kronak, under which there is a courtyard with columns.

Today, Palazzo Strozzi hosts various cultural events: exhibitions, art lectures, meetings with famous artists, seminars, fashion shows, and concerts in the courtyard.
