Pitti Square

Piazza dei Pitti, Firenze, Italy

Description:

Pitti Square is a newly renovated Florentine square, which houses its most important attraction – the Pitti Palace. It now houses the Art Museum, which houses the Palatine Gallery with an extensive collection of Medici dukes. Also in the palace are museums of silver, costume, carriages and a gallery of modern art.

Pitti Square is also famous for the house number 21, where Fyodor Dostoevsky finished his novel The Idiot. The Russian writer was so beloved by the locals that one of the streets of Florence was named after him.
