Savona - Portofino, La Spezia - Portofino, Genoa - Portofino
Description:
We offer a colorful trip from the ports of La Spezia, Savona or Genoa.
The road to the famous village of Portofino will pass through the town of Rapallo, which has Roman roots, which became part of the protectorate of Genoa between the X and XI centuries, and together with the Republic of Genoa participated in the struggle against the Pisans, Venetians and French. In 1550, after being looted by the pirate Dragut, a castle was built there, which was part of the defense complex of the bay.
In the second half of the 19th century, Rapallo became a tourist town, international hotels were built, and in 1868 the first steam locomotive journey to La Spezia set off from here. In 1870, Giuseppe Mazzini took refuge in Rapallo to escape persecution in Savoy. Since the late nineteenth century, many famous personalities from the world of music, science, literature and art have visited Rapallo: composers Ferenc Liszt and Sibelius, Wagner, Arturo Toscanini; Marie Curie, Sigmund Freud and Guglielmo Marconi; artists Vasily Kandinsky and Oscar Kokoschka; Friedrich Nietzsche, William Butler Yeats, Ernest Hemingway, Ezra Pound, poet, Nobel Prize winner Gabriela Mistral, etc. The name Rapallo is historically associated with the signing of the Treaty of 1920 between Italy and Yugoslavia and in 1922 between Germany and the Soviet Union.
Also, the colorful, fishing village of Kamogli will be part of our program.
