Castle Brown (Castello Brown)

Description:

The first fortress (of wood!) was built on this site by the ancient Romans - it was painfully good and important for the local view. For this, builders can be grateful - from here there is a charming view of the bay and the town. Until the XIV century, the fortification repulsed more than one attack - the location on a high hill, it must be thought, helped her in this. In the XV century on the site of “morally obsolete” wooden buildings finally erected stone. In 1870, the fortress was acquired by the English consul in Genoa, Montagu Yates Brown, who gradually converted it into a villa.

In 1961, the castle went to the municipality of Portofino, which exhibited the works of local artists and sculptors. In addition to acquaintance with art, in the halls of the castle you can look at bas-reliefs, floor tiles, carved chests for a long time. Around the castle there is a garden with beautiful alleys that attract fans of panoramic views of the bay. And it is, as usual, a popular place for weddings, birthdays and just parties.
