Royal Square

Central Milan, near the Royal Palace, Italy

Description:

Royal Square is one of the smallest and most inconspicuous squares of Milan. It is located in the historical center of the city, near the Royal Palace.

The Royal Square is relatively modest in size and is almost lost against the backdrop of the huge Cathedral Square it borders. The shape of the Royal Square is quite unusual - it is a beveled rectangle, which is formed by the facade of the Royal Palace and the lines of an ancient parade ground. Its surface is a paving stone on which tiles are laid out patterns. There are no other decorations here.

The Royal Square largely comes to life during a variety of exhibitions, which are often held in the Royal Palace, where the city museum operates. Sometimes the square becomes an exhibition center, turning into a kind of open-air museum. On such days, art lovers from all over the city flock here.
