Monument to Leonardo da Vinci

Piazza della Scala, 6, 20121 Milano, Italy

Description:

Milan is the capital of not only fashion, but also world art. Leonardo da Vinci lived and worked here for a long time, here he created some of his most famous works: “Madonna in the Rocks”, “Last Supper” and “Lady with an Ermine”.

It is not surprising that a monument to this great artist was erected in Milan. On the lower tier of the pedestal are sculptural portraits of Leonardo's followers - Marco d'Odjono, Cesare de Sesto, Gioantonio Boltraffio and Andrea Salaino. Some of them achieved great success in the study of painting and became recognized masters of their craft.

According to the sculptor, the gesture of the figure of Leonardo means service to science. His students look different, but are in the same position: one hand they hold on the belt, and the other is a symbol of the wisdom of Leonardo da Vinci – a book.
