Dante Street
Description:
Dante Street is an important pedestrian street located in the center of Milan, which connects Cordusio Square and Largo Cairoli. The street is famous for its luxurious old palaces, theaters, expensive shops, chic restaurants, cafes and bars.
On the street there are beautiful buildings dating from the XVIII-XIX centuries. The most prominent building is the Piccolo Teatro (literally “little theatre”). The first staged play in the theater was the play “At the bottom” by Maxim Gorky. There are no new buildings on the street, so it has retained its old atmosphere.
Until 1996, public transport and a tram line ran along the street, but later local authorities made the street pedestrian.
