Novecent Museum

Via Marconi, 1, 20100 Milano, Italia

About the company:

The Novecento Museum is located in the Arengario Palace on Duomo Square, in the heart of Milan. The basis of the museum collection are numerous works by famous artists of futurists and sculptors of the XX century.

The Novecento Museum opened its doors to the public in December 2010. The total area occupied by the expositions is 8200 m2. The museum building was built in Mussolini’s time, but modern architects have worked to renovate the interiors, which have been converted to the exposition of modern art collections.

On the ground floor, the hall is dedicated to the international avant-garde. Here are works from the collection of Jaker, Picasso, Lager and Matisse. Visitors to the museum in a small hall with Morandi landscapes can see expressive works of the 1940s. Also here are the works of Italian artists of the Arte Povera movement, which originated in the 1960s.

The project of the Novecento Museum connected tradition and modernity. The stairwell in the glass tower is the most significant architectural detail. A spiral staircase connects all floors of the building. And from above there is a magnificent view of the main square of Milan, the Duomo, and the famous cathedral.
