Flegrey fields
Description:
These places are not so full of tourists as the near neighbor of Pompeii, and how many stories, legends, secrets, myths associated with them simply impossible to describe, so you will discover something completely new. The Phlegrean fields (from the Greek phlegraios, "burning") are a huge volcanic area stretching west of the Gulf of Naples, from the Posillipo hill to Qum. Its volcanic nature is obvious immediately, thanks to the protruding tuffs and pumice, bubbling and smoking fumaroles, craters that form natural amphitheaters. We walk along the bottom of the crater of the Solfatara volcano - we will feel the heated earth under our feet, the smell of sulfur, we will see clubs of hot steam bursting from the ground and "boiling" sands. Here you will get absolutely extraordinary sensations. We will also see the temple of Serapis, which in reality was not a temple, but a market. Visit the fantastic Flavian Amphitheatre, the third largest in Italy. We will enter the magical cave of the famous ancient prophetess Sibylla Kumskaya. We will see impressive ruins, archaeological parks, a whole ancient city, extracted from the ground during excavations, which are associated with the history and legends of these amazing places. We can go to agrotourism to taste local products. Passionate fans of archaeology have something to see here, and in abundance, and you can eat here exquisite dishes of traditional Mediterranean cuisine.
