The historic center of Naples is one of the few places in the world that has perfectly preserved its Greek layout of decumani and cardini. Buildings of different periods and times peacefully coexist with each other, hiding in their yards the secrets of millennia. Here the forum of the Roman period hid between medieval buildings, and the food market of Macellum I century AD became the foundation for the Cathedral of St. George. Lorenzo in the thirteenth century. Deepened into the alleys, behind colorful sheets, you can see the walls of the theater of the time of Emperor Nero or – small altars with photos of ancestors, the plot of films and fans is restored in memory. Good old movies that each of us has watched many times. The streets of Naples are lively scenery for any of these films, and its inhabitants – everyday actors – lively, emotional and sunny!

There are layers of history everywhere. In each courtyard, behind the powerful gates, the coat of arms of an aristocratic family is hidden, and in each alley the richest temples and monasteries are pearls, amid the chaotic movement of motorcycles and the hissing dialect of street vendors.

I know it’s hard to imagine, but it’s only when you’ve been here that you can imagine what 3,000 years of history mean!

Oh yes, I almost forgot to mention that for 600 years Naples was the capital of the kingdom and thanks to its past today boasts the largest historical center in Europe.

All this, of course, in the frame of the sea and the bright blue sky.
