In the footsteps of cinema

We have all seen at least once in our lives one of the old films with the participation of the beautiful Sophia Loren and Marcello Mastroianni. Naples in our imagination is “Wedding in Italian”, “Gold of Naples” or “Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow”, where children run and scream on the streets under dry underwear, where the knock of hammers and the squeal of a saw are heard from the workshops, and the Neapolitan dialect hisses from the open doors of the apartments “Basso”. In these places, matriarchy reigns, women rule the ball, remember the scene of smuggling cigarettes and the ever-pregnant Sophie, or her fried pizzas Donna Sofia. Men go crazy about her beauty and line up waiting for Sophie's pizza. Loudly, gesticulating, talking. There is no place for solitude – this corrosion of the soul!

During our walk, we will not only remember the scenes of these Neapolitan films, but also to some extent feel like their actors. This is a kind of journey, but only in the center of our attention are not architectural masterpieces, but human souls, which are the real “gold” of the city.

Many years have passed since the films of Sophie and Marcello and the inimitable Toto, time flies and times change, but in some alleys of Naples everything seems to be in its place. It is with this Naples that I want to introduce you - beautiful and colorful, introduce you to its inhabitants, their traditions and customs, treat you to fried pizza and a cup of Neapolitan coffee.
