Bridge on the island of Guyola

Italy, Campania region, Naples, Gaiola

Description:

Gaiola is a group of two small rock islands off Cape Passilipo in the Gulf of Naples off the coast of Italy. On one of the islands built a small villa, the other uninhabited. The islands are connected by an unusual stone bridge.

Gaiola looks very picturesque and serene, but they are associated with a rather gloomy story, and the locals believe that Gaiola weighs curse. In the early twentieth century, the owner of the villa was a certain Hans Brown, who was found here killed and wrapped in a carpet. Soon his wife drowned in the sea. The villa was purchased by pharmacist Maurice Sandoz, who later committed suicide in Switzerland. The next owners of the island went bankrupt immediately after the purchase of the villa. For a time, Guyola belonged to Fiat owner Gianni Agnelli, but after the suicide of his son and the death of his beloved nephew from cancer, he sold the island. Since then, the villa has been abandoned.

The mysterious story with the curse attracts tourists to the island who admire the amazing bridge thrown between the islands. It seems that the thin arch of this stone bridge literally hangs in the air.
