Places of Giuseppe Verdi
Description:
The famous traveler Henry Morton did not regret that during his journey he turned from the Via Emilia (Roman road built by Marcus Aemilius Lepido in the II century BC) to a secondary highway and did not miss places associated with the birth, life and work of Giuseppe Verdi.
I promise you won't regret it either!
The village of Le Roncole is where Verdi was born: we will see his home, a tiny church where little Giuseppe was baptized, the organ on which he tried to take the first chords. It was here, during a local holiday, that the gifted child was noticed by patron Antonio Barezzi, thanks to whom Verdi continued his music classes and became what we know and love him.
Then from Le Roncole we will move to the cute miniature town of Busseto. So Verdi – at one time – moved here, to the house of the patron, from his native village. To this day, in Busseto, Verdi is treated as a native and living. After all, a resident of what other city can proudly declare: “I was born near the house where the future author of La Traviata studied piano!” In the house of Barezzi, where young Verdi lived and studied, a museum is now arranged.
We will also see a beautiful, like a precious box, a miniature local theater built in honor of Verdi.
In the afternoon we go to Villa Sant'Agata, owned by Verdi. The composer designed the villa himself without the help of architects. The house is split in two. In one there is a bedroom, a study and a piano of the composer, the room of the second wife Giuseppina Strepponi. It is here that we will learn the story of Verdi’s life and love and, of course, try to understand him or at least join the great genius. In the second half, his descendants still live, who carefully preserve the original appearance of the villa and the beautiful garden.
