Pompeii - time travel
Description:
The last day of Pompeii for the Russian brush was the first day! These lines were dedicated by Yevgeny Baratynsky to K.P. Bryullov, who glorified both the Russian painting school and Pompeii!
It can be said that my work came about thanks to the eruption of Vesuvius and thanks to Karl Bryullov and Julia Samoilova, who visited Pompeii in 1830.
Karl Bryullov and Julia met in Italy, in the salon of the brilliant Zinaida Volkonskaya. By that time they were both mature people, not quite equal in social status, because Julia was an aristocrat, and Charles was just an artist. But the truth of the artist is not ordinary, but famous and respected not only in Russia, but also in Europe.
Julia Pavlovna was a woman not that frivolous, but fell in love quite often. In the person of Karl Bryullov, she found the ideal of a man: who she was looking for, and Karl might not have noticed the beautiful countess, but Julia had the beauty that the artist considered ideal. Julia Pavlovna Samoilova became Bryullov’s favorite model.
Together, the artist and the Countess roamed the excavations of ancient Pompeii and searched for a place where the action of the future painting would unfold. I can guide everyone to the excavations and I even found a place where our great artist worked! I will definitely show you this place!
A trip to Pompeii is an unforgettable journey in time! For a couple of hours we will travel back in time a couple of millennia!
