Monument to Julius Caesar
Via Mentana 5, 47921 Rimini RN, Italy
Description:
During the reign of the great Gaius Julius Caesar, who proclaimed himself emperor of Rome, a bronze monument of impressive size was erected in his honor on the place where he called his loyal legionaries to march on the conquest of Rome. The monument captures the moment of the emperor’s speech. Fans of the great ruler lay flowers here, and tourists leave photos as a memory. This is another attraction of the town of Rimini.
While excavating on the ruins of a stone theater in Pompeii, archaeologists discovered the slab. Scientists suggest that this slab is the tombstone of the great commander, politician and writer Julius Caesar, installed on the site of his death. The pedestal was erected by Caesar’s great-nephew, Emperor Augustus.
