Castel Sismondo Castle
Piazza Malatesta, 47900 Rimini
Description:
Castel Sismondo Castle, located in Rimini, was built in 1437.
The castle belonged to the ruler of the city Sigismund Pandolfo Malatesta. The owner himself designed his future castle. However, according to some sources, the famous artist Filippo Brunelleschi was also involved in the design.
The construction of the castle took about fifteen years. The central part of the castle served as Malateste's residence.
It is worth noting that the towers of the castle "looked" towards the city and each of them had bronze guns.
In 1821, the military barracks of the Carabinieri were located in the castle.
At present, excursions and various cultural events are held in the castle.
