Description:

Barbagia is located in the heart of Sardinia and is surrounded by massive mountains of Jennargentu. Here is the highest point of the island - Mount La Marmora (1.834 m above sea level). People live here according to old Sardinian traditions. Local residents are engaged in agriculture, the production of domestic wine, olive oil, bread. Barbagia is the birthplace of the famous Karazau bread.

During our trip we will visit the city of Oliena, located at the foot of the hill of Monte Corrazi, then get to the famous carnival city of Mamoyada. Here we will visit the Mask Museum, where carnival costumes of all regions of the Mediterranean are collected. Then we will go to the picturesque area of Supramonte - the city of Orgozolo, where our guide will show you the amazing frescoes located on the walls of each house in the city center. You will also hear stories of local crime. In this city was born Graziano Mazina, a famous bandit who for many years hid in the mountains of Tiscali. Renato Soru, the governor of Sardinia, the founder of the Italian Internet company Tiscali, named it after a cave on top of a mountain. Here the ancient Sardinians hid from their enemies. The first slogan read: Tiskali is a new way to communicate with the land of silence.

Orgozolo is rich in archaeological sites. There are three Domus de Janas and about 32 Nurages. After visiting the village, we will go for a dinner with the shepherds, during which you can taste Sardinian sausage, pecorino cheese, cooked sheep meat, and all this with red wine Nepente from Olena.
