Bastion of Saint-Remy in Sardinia
Description:
A powerful structure, once part of the chain of defensive structures surrounding the city of Cagliari (Sardinia). It was built in the early XX century on the old city wall to unite the districts of Castello, Villanova and Marina. During World War II, a bomb hit the building and destroyed its triumphal arch and staircase. However, after some time the bastion was restored in its original form and today it is one of the most visited tourist sites in Sardinia.
Experienced tourists are advised to climb the bastion. From above there is a beautiful panorama of the whole city.
