Pozzallo seaport

Description:

The Italian sea town of Pozzallo, located in the southern part of the island of Sicily, belongs to the province of Ragusa and the only one in the province with a seaport.

The city has two beaches, one of them, Pietre Nere, for its environmental friendliness and cleanliness marked with the Blue Flag. On the sandy beaches of the town on weekends come local residents of neighboring provinces.

Pozzallo is the starting point of many bus routes: to Catania, to Syracuse, to Ragusa in Palermo.

The date of foundation of Pozzallo is considered the XIV century, when the Modica government decided to build a complex of warehouses and docks on the shore and began to trade with many ships. In 1429, Giovanni Bernardo Cabrero built a fortress on the shore to protect against pirates, which is now the main attraction.
