Urbino

Albornoz Fortress

Viale Bruno Buozzi, Urbino, Italy

Description:

The fortress is located on the highest point of Urbino and was built around the seventies of the 14th century for defensive purposes. Until the 17th century, it was repeatedly destroyed and restored, was part of the monastery and finally, at the turn of the 18th century, was finally rebuilt for military needs.

The powerful brick walls of the fortress are well preserved and today inspire the same respect and awe as in past centuries. Not so long ago, the restored fortress looks like a regular rectangular structure with ramparts and towers. From here it is very good to admire the surroundings.
