Vibo Valentia

The Mystic Scylla and the Mysterious Trail on the Rock

Description:

A mythical fortress city. Fabulously beautiful, shrouded in many myths and legends involving sea monsters and valiant Argonauts. Chianalea is the most picturesque quarter of Shilla. A fishing village with narrow streets, boat width, fishing nets, picturesque houses in flowers, blue boats on the shore and many fish restaurants.

A walk along Schille we will start from the upper part of the town, from where a delightful landscape opens to the sea, Sicily and the posad itself. Here I will tell you the legend of the mythical monsters that once lived in these places, introduce you to the history of this settlement. After that, along the characteristic narrow stairs, we descend to another level of the town, where the castle of Ruffo and the central temple of the city are located. A visit to the fishing museum located in the castle is planned here.

The final part of our promenade will be a mini-navigation along the seaside quarter of the town of Chianalea, which is called Southern Venice. Walking through its streets, you will see for yourself.

If desired, you can have lunch or dinner in one of the local restaurants, which prepare delicious dishes from fresh fish and seafood.

On the way back, I suggest you make a short stop on Mount St. Ilya in Palmi, where there was a significant meeting of two irreconcilable antagonists, which gave rise to many folk tales. Here I will tell you the amazing legend associated with this place. You will have the opportunity to admire the magnificent, one might say, unique landscape that opens from this place. From here, as in the palm of your hand, you can see Sicily, Calabria and the Aeolian Islands at the same time. It is impossible not to capture this beauty in photos!

And if you are lucky, we will see the evening sun, rolling right into the yawn of the volcano Stromboli.
